What to Know Before You Buy Siemens Motors

Motor replacement requires more specification matching than most automation components. The replacement must match the original motor's frame size, power rating, shaft configuration, cooling method, encoder type, and connection standard before installation proceeds without modification.

Hardware condition options: We supply Siemens SIMOTICS motors as surplus sealed, refurbished, and used hardware. Surplus sealed units are factory-sealed stock. Refurbished units have been tested and restored to operational condition. For motors going into critical drive applications, confirming the condition grade and verifying mechanical condition before installation is recommended.

Compatibility considerations: 1PH7 and 1PH8 series motors are designed for use with SINAMICS S120 drive systems and must be matched to the drive's motor module type, power rating, and encoder interface. 1FK7 servo motors require drive-side encoder configuration and are not interchangeable with induction motor variants. MOTION-CONNECT power cables are matched to specific motor connection types (SPEED-CONNECT Size 1) and motor module variants; confirm the cable interfaces at both ends before ordering.

Part identification: SIMOTICS motor part numbers encode the series (1PH6, 1PH7, 1PH8, 1FK7), frame size, shaft height, cooling configuration, and encoder type. The suffix characters after the core part number identify mounting and option variants. For legacy 1PH6 and 1PH7 motors, the original nameplate part number is the most reliable reference for sourcing a compatible replacement.
