What to Know Before You Buy Siemens Breakers & Breaker Parts

Circuit breakers require more verification variables than most other automation components. Frame size, pole count, current rating, trip unit type, breaking capacity class, and standard (IEC vs. UL) must match the installed device before an order is placed.

Hardware condition options: We supply Siemens circuit breakers as surplus sealed, refurbished, and used hardware. For protection-critical devices, confirming the condition grade is important; surplus sealed stock is factory-sealed, while refurbished units have been tested and verified for functionality.

Compatibility considerations: IEC- and UL-rated breakers are not interchangeable, even when their current ratings match. Within the 3VA series, the trip unit type affects coordination with upstream protection: thermal-magnetic™ and electronic (ETU) trip units have different tripping curves that must match the original installation’s coordination study. For 3VL and SENTRON frame breakers, connection accessories (box terminals, lug kits) are frame-specific and need to be confirmed separately if not included with the breaker body.

Lifecycle status: Several breakers in this collection carry PM410 (product cancellation) or PM490 (start of final year of support) lifecycle status, particularly in the 3VL and 3RV2 series. For these devices, independent stock is often the only viable sourcing route once OEM channels are depleted. Always check the lifecycle status of the original part number before expecting standard distribution availability.
