What to Know Before You Buy Siemens SIMATIC HMI

Ordering the correct SIMATIC HMI panel requires matching three variables: the panel series and type, the display size, and the interface configuration required by the installed network. An incorrect panel series will require project reconfiguration and may not be compatible with the existing WinCC project without modification.

Hardware condition options: PLC Direct supplies SIMATIC HMI panels as surplus sealed, refurbished, and used hardware. Surplus sealed units are factory-sealed stock; refurbished units have been tested and restored to operational condition.

Configuration software compatibility: Basic Panels require WinCC Basic or STEP 7 Basic V13 or later. Comfort Panels require WinCC Comfort V11 or later. Replacing a Basic Panel with a Comfort Panel, or substituting a different Comfort Panel size, may require adapting the WinCC configuration before the panel can be deployed.

Interface requirements: Basic Panels in this collection connect via PROFINET only. Comfort Panels include both PROFINET and MPI/PROFIBUS DP interfaces. If the installed system uses PROFIBUS DP communication to the HMI panel, a Comfort Panel is required; Basic Panels will not support that connection type.
